Hi all, how are we all doing?
I’ve just realised that we’re almost at the end of January and I haven’t blogged yet this year, I’m feeling really bad about that… but I’m here!
Since I last blogged (yeah I know it’s been a while – sorry!), so much has been going on here at Cards And Candles For All Occasions that I’m not sure where to start.
We attended a fantastic craft fair back in November which was organised by the fantastic Chase Handmade which is three lovely ladies who are based in Staffordshire and are all crafters themselves, they pride themselves on holding events which consist of solely handcrafted items.
Their Christmas event was fantastic, one of our most productive events in a long time and the range of handmade products which were available were beautiful. I have to say that the photographer (Rich Wilkes Media) was fantastic and took some wonderful photographs of this event which you can see on his Facebook page. Here are the photographs which were taken of our stall:
Throughout 2018 we are attending another three of Chase Handmade’s events… I will update details of those very soon in a separate blog post.
We had lots of orders over the festive period which meant that we didn’t have a lot of time for the computer and online activities hence the break in our blogging, this is one of our December orders – the lovely lady who ordered it requested a birthday card for her Father’s 81st birthday, the main theme being that her Dad is a very keen gardener.
In my craft stash I have a selection of Thomas Kinkade images in pads with decoupage, card toppers, etc so I used two of the images, and added a garden shed diecut with gardening accessories. When I delivered this order to our customer and she saw the design we had used, she told me then that her Father is a follower of Thomas Kinkade’s artwork – how much of a great coincidence is that!
Over the past few weeks I have been working on new stock which is ready to be photographed, uploaded and added to our website as well as working on new mixed media techniques in my personal crafting which I hope to practice to a level where I can include these techniques in my handcrafted greetings cards and keepsake cards.
I have lots of plans for throughout 2018 that I hope to bring to fruition on our website and Facebook page, lots of new ideas as well as developing our current project range.
I hope to bring lots of new keepsake card based ideas too. At the moment this is one of my favourite images of our exploding box keepsakes (image courtesy of Rich Wilkes Media).
We will of course be continuing with our bookatrix keepsake cards and our range of greetings cards but we also have lots more ideas to look into. Is there a specific handmade card design you would like us to consider?
As some of you may know, I have been a part of the ‘Planner Community’ for the last couple of years. Since starting to use a planner I have felt like I am more organised – don’t get me wrong, I still have several notebooks for different things, eg. one for business brainstorming, one for to-do lists, etc but I feel like having the majority of what I need to do in one place is really helpful.
So this year to keep me focused on what I need to do, what is happening on certain days, etc I am using a regular sized MAMBI Happy Planner for my ‘everything’ planner, daily to-do lists and personal information and for the business and my scrapbooking/mixed media commitments and plans I am using an A5 sized Carpe Diem planner. It really feels a lot better to have everything in their own places so I don’t have to waste time going through numerous notebooks to find what I’m looking for.
In addition to my two desk planners, I am using a Websters Pages Travelers Notebook which is my ‘take everywhere’ planner where I have a diary insert and a couple of different notebooks for information I may need when I’m out and about. Planning is definitely helping me stay organised and I really feel that without them I would lose focus on what I’m supposed to be doing each day.
How do you keep your days/weeks organised? Do you use a planner or general notebook? Or are you more of a digital calendar type or person, if so do you have a favourite app?
While working, even on those difficult days I just keep on telling myself that in order to achieve my dreams I need to stay focused and work hard to achieve what I want – so far it’s working!
Thank you for reading and I’ll be back soon xxx
