Handcrafted VW Campervan Bunting

We were recently approached through our website by a potential customer who was looking for bespoke bunting to be made to display in their vintage VW campervan which they hire out as a photobooth at weddings.

They were looking for our VW splitscreen campervan bunting in a very specific shade of green to match their own campervan and after some to-ing and fro-ing and lots of discussions decided that the Dylusions Pesto Green acrylic paint would be the perfect colour for what they need.

The feedback we have received from this customer has been amazing and now that they have received their order I can share the finished product with you.

The campervan shapes are laser cut from mdf before being primed using gesso to seal the surface to allow us to get an even tone on the paint colour. We applied several layers of white acrylic paint to the entire surface of the mdf shapes to give good coverage and a strong base for the darker colours. We then masked off the areas which were to remain white, before multiple coats of the green acrylic paint were applied.

While the paint was drying on the campervan shapes, we were able to work on the lettering. Again starting with a base coat of gesso to seal the mdf surface before applying the green acrylic paint in several layers to give the best finish.

Once all of the acrylic paint was dry (we left it over night between paint coats), we then applied a matt varnish to seal and protect the paint surface, lastly adhering the “Mr & Mrs” lettering in place and attaching the handpainted mdf shapes onto a length of white satin ribbon.
