Look what arrived this morning from the fabulous studio of the very talented Scottish crafter, Aileen Clarke Crafts… I absolutely love it and already have plans for it ♥
This is one of my most favourite handcrafted purchases in a long time… each of Aileen’s notebooks, journals, sketchbooks and cards are all made prints in replication of her original felted pictures. Fantastic work!!!
As you know, Gordon and I both strongly support small businesses and particularly those in the arts/crafts industry so we do buy a lot of our gifts, etc from small independant businesses online… it is much nicer to buy something knowing that it has been handmade with love and care, will be unique and we are helping another small business than it is to feed to pockets of the larger chain stores with their mass-produced factory/machine made goods.
I know that there are many arty people (i.e. sketching, drawing, etc) around and also others, like myself, who like to sketch out an idea before starting to assemble components – the notebook I have received this morning has a seletion of lined and blank pages so is ideal for sketching out new ideas and jotting down notes about them, alternatively it will make a fantastic holiday journal for sketching our surroundings while we are away.
This is infact, the second piece of Aileen’s work that I have recently purchased. Just before Christmas I ordered a print of one of her original felted Highland Cow images which arrived beautifully packaged and mounted… athough this is only a print of the original felted picture, the quality of printing is superb and you can really see the felting fibres in every area of the picture, making you want to reach out and touch it. Gordon’s Highland Cow picture now has pride of place in our bedroom.
When you have a moment free, I would highly recommend that you make yourself a cuppa, relax and have a browse around Aileen’s online store… you will not be disappointed, there is auch a choice to choose from including, greetings cards, notebooks, sketchbooks, printed pictures, handfelted pictures and jewellery, a beautiful collection from a very talented lady.
We hope you have enjoyed reading this post and can see as much beauty in this as we can.
Lots of love
