The event was held in the Longton Central Hall Methodist Church Hall on The Strand, Longton, Stoke on Trent. The event opened at 12:30pm and ran for three hours closing at 3:30pm.
Although the weather on the day wasn’t great – typical bank holiday weather really, dull and drizzly, there were people around who were all keen to join in the activities which had been arranged for the day… these included decorating mugs, photographs with the Queen and outside Buckingham Palace, music and dance and creating your own Jubilee garland.
Although Cards And Candles For All Occasions and Badger’s Woodcrafts were the only stallholders, other than a bric-a-brac stall, at this event we still had a great day, met some lovely people, made some new business contacts and made a few sales.
We were told that this event usually takes place outside, in the main streets of the town however local businesses had objected and this had meant the event had to be moved hence it being held in the church hall. I do think this had a big impact on the day as many people were unsure of where the hall was – down the alley, under scaffolding, at the side of the church.
I think if the event had gone ahead outside as planned and the weather had been better then there would have been a higher number of people in attendance but then nobody can guarantee these things.
The day went well for us and we enjoyed the event so we can’t really say fairer than that.
Would we like to attend future events held by Longton Events Board? Definitely! Though I would perhaps question using the same venue again simply because people were unaware that the hall even existed!!
All in all, it was a fun day filled with music, dance, sales and chatter. The best sort of day 🙂
