We have been very quiet over the last few months I know, but with good reason I promise. We were busy preparing for our week in Scotland… a week spent with all of our family. A week of sightseeing, family meals, days out with my little cousins and a family wedding. It has been absolutely bliss!!
We drove from East Kilbride to Fort William on Monday 9th April 2012 for our much needed holiday and as you can see the views were fantastic, this is what the start of a holiday should be about. Lots of rest, relaxation and superb surroundings:
Our first evening was spent relaxing and taking in the views from our apartment at the beautiful Lochy Holiday Park in Fort William… the site and surroundings are stunning!
Our apartment was far beyond our expectations, the facilities are excellent – there was everything we could have wished for and more. We could have happily lived in the apartment permanently. The only ‘homely’ thing missing from the apartments was a washing machine but that is no problem as there is a very well facilitated laundry on site. It is perfect.
On our second day Gordon, dad and I went to Arisag, Camusdarach Beach and Mallaig – it is lovely here, so tranquil and quiet, the surroundings are stunning and it has lots of memories from childhood holidays for both dad and me.
On Wednesday we had a day trip to Oba, Connel Bridge and the Falls of Lora followed by a meal with all the family at the West End Hotel, Fort William. After dinner the lads all went ten pin bowling while the ladies and girls stayed at the hotel… a quiet but lovely evening.
Thursday 12th April 2012 was my aunts wedding but that’s for a separate blog post!!
Friday 13th April 2012, Gordon and I took my little cousins Callum and Nicola to Landmark Adventure Forest – we saw all kinds of weather on our way there… hail, snow, rain and lots of sunshine. Thankfully it was dry all day when we were there. The kids loved the waterslides, rollercoaster, high wire course and we all absolutely loved the Tree Top Trail and Bamboozleum. Bamboozleum is like a sciencey type exhibition with lots of interactive electrostatic and imagery features – such a giggle!!
Sadly, we had to leave Fort William on Saturday 14th April 2012 to drive down to East Kilbride – dad had gone home the day before so we stayed with im on the Saturday night to break up our journey. Stoke on Trent to Fort William is a long drive!!
Our last day in Scotland gave us plenty of photo opportunities at Corpach Canal Basin, Caol, Rannoch Moor and beyond…
And so saw the end of our holiday… it wasn’t until our week in the Fort William area that we realised just how much we would love to live in that area, away from the hustle and bustle, away from all the sad memories and not so good places from our past.
One day we may live our dream – we best start buying a lottery ticket!!
We hope you have enjoyed our holiday photos as much as we enjoyed our break!!
Now it’s back to work and back to reality 🙂
