Well, where should I start? I’ve been thinking of starting a blog for a while as everyone has been telling me what a great way it is of getting noticed and keeping people up to date with the crafty goings on, new products, etc – I did try to use another blog site but just can’t get the hang of it, so here I am… I came back to my old faithful account here… here’s hoping I can remember how it all works or I might end up looking rather silly lol.
At the moment, both Gord and I are in the process of working very hard to build up our stocks of greetings cards, keepsake cards and candles for the forthcoming craft fairs we’ve got between now and Christmas, in between creating bespoke pieces for orders and of course trying to get our own Christmas cards made for sending… there really aren’t enough hours in the day at the moment!!
Anyways, this year we’ve decided that we’re aiming to give mainly handmade gifts for Christmas as we’re fed up complaining about the over-commercialisation of the festive season and the stupid proces that shops charge, so we’re hoping to boycott the shops this year and make things a little more personal and show that we really do think about these things.
So, for starters we’ve got the two little cousins in New Zealand… Callum is having a Highland Kiwi piece that I have drawn specially, as although he was born in NZ both of his parents are Scottish and he counts himself as a ‘Highland Kiwi’ so I thought this would be ideal. He’s also getting Snowman Soup which I’m sure he’ll love.
As for Nicola, she’s thirteen now and turning into quite the young lady, so I’ve crocheted her a handbag which had been lined and has a zip fastening, so that she can keep her money, Ipod or whatever else, safe when she’s out. For my gran, I’ve taken inspiration from a recently commissioned birthday card and have done her a watercolour painting of the Nanda Devi. We have a couple of friends who we are going to make up some candle gift sets for, then it just leaves hubby and the two dads… they could be tricky!! I’ve been thinking of perhaps doing some kind of artwork of Catweazle for my dad, as not only is this his nickname, but he also used to be very keen on the tv series, so it’s looking like an option. As for Gord’s dad, I’ve no idea at the moment. I’ve got a few ideas lined up for hubby’s Christmas at the moment, but obviously can’t tell you about them at the moment as I’m not sure how often he reads this blog, so better safe than sorry!!
Tonight I’m busy labelling and packaging all of the cards that I’ve made over the last few days so that they’re ready to go to the craft fairs – I tend to leave this part until I’ve loads to do and it really is the worst part of cardmaking, I should learn but I never seem to!!
Also got a couple of orders to be getting on with in the morning, so all going well tomorrow will be another productive day… watch this space!! If I remember to update this blog then I’ll be back soon lol.
Hiya and welcome to blog land
