May Bank Infant School Christmas Fair

Well, here we are, three hours away from setting up for the May Bank Infants School Christmas Fair in Newcastle Under Lyme and we’re looking pretty organised.

Product wise, we’ve got a bit of a selection…

Greetings Cards

Keepsake Cards

Gift Tags

Bookmarks

Calendars

Snowman Soup

Crochet Hats

Selection of Candles

So fingers crossed we make a few sales and we’ve got plenty of business cards to hand out.  Change is sorted.  Bags are sorted.  So all that’s left is to get me sorted lol… need to go and jump in the bath, sort my hair and get ready!
Wish us luck!!!

Christmas Pressies

Well, the sorting out has began and here are the Crimbo pressies so far…

Callum is having the Highland Kiwi drawing – my little cousin who was born in New Zealand and lived there all his life but both his parents and the rest of the family are Scottish, so he classes himself as a “Highland Kiwi” so I thought this was quite appropriate… just hope he likes it!!

My gran is having a watercolour of the Nanda Devi which was inspired by an order for a greetings card, also going to make her up a box of greetings cards.

For my little cousin Nicola, I’ve crocheted a bag, lined it and put a zipper across the top. Also making her up a cardmaking kit as she loves all things crafty!

Now I need to sort out the rest so I’ll either post photos later today or in the next few days – now that I’ve worked out how to post photos lol.

Christmas is coming!!

Well, here we are… the last Wednesday in November and how organised am I?  In all honesty, not at all really!!  I’ve not been feeling very festive just lately and just couldn’t get into the swing of the whole Christmas crafting idea, but today is seeing a change to all of that… Christmas decorations are up and I’m starting to get things sorted out so that I can sit down and get seriously organised!

First thing’s first, I need to sort out what I need to do before tomorrow nights school fair at Maybank Infant School, Newcastle-Under-Lyme – I need to get the Snowman Soup made up, package the hats and bookmarks and see what cards I need to be getting made.  I want to get it all done today so that I’m not rushing around at the last minute tomorrow.

I also want to sort out what Christmas presents we already have, what I need to make (and make a list of it!), what Christmas cards I need this year – far too many!!  And in amongst all of that I want to get all of our orders made up and ready for posting so that as soon as payment is received all I need to do is go to the post office.

Feeling relatively positive today so just hoping that it last long enough for me to get everything done!!  Want to get as much of the Christmas stuff done this week as I can otherwise I’ll end up leaving it all until the last minute!!

Oh… and another thought!!  I need to get a set of advent atc’s made up today and also my Secret Santa gifts sorted for posting by next Friday!!

I also need to get a blog giveaway sorted out as well… not sure whether to do this before or after Christmas?  Any suggestions?  Perhaps tie it in with my birthday on 29th December?  I don’t know… will have to see what happens!

Anyways, enough ramblings, off to get crafty now!!

Cards & Candles For All Occasions – new crafty blog

Well, where should I start?  I’ve been thinking of starting a blog for a while as everyone has been telling me what a great way it is of getting noticed and keeping people up to date with the crafty goings on, new products, etc – I did try to use another blog site but just can’t get the hang of it, so here I am… I came back to my old faithful account here… here’s hoping I can remember how it all works or I might end up looking rather silly lol.

At the moment, both Gord and I are in the process of working very hard to build up our stocks of greetings cards, keepsake cards and candles for the forthcoming craft fairs we’ve got between now and Christmas, in between creating bespoke pieces for orders and of course trying to get our own Christmas cards made for sending… there really aren’t enough hours in the day at the moment!!

Anyways, this year we’ve decided that we’re aiming to give mainly handmade gifts for Christmas as we’re fed up complaining about the over-commercialisation of the festive season and the stupid proces that shops charge, so we’re hoping to boycott the shops this year and make things a little more personal and show that we really do think about these things.

So, for starters we’ve got the two little cousins in New Zealand… Callum is having a Highland Kiwi piece that I have drawn specially, as although he was born in NZ both of his parents are Scottish and he counts himself as a ‘Highland Kiwi’ so I thought this would be ideal.  He’s also getting Snowman Soup which I’m sure he’ll love.

As for Nicola, she’s thirteen now and turning into quite the young lady, so I’ve crocheted her a handbag which had been lined and has a zip fastening, so that she can keep her money, Ipod or whatever else, safe when she’s out.  For my gran, I’ve taken inspiration from a recently commissioned birthday card and have done her a watercolour painting of the Nanda Devi.  We have a couple of friends who we are going to make up some candle gift sets for, then it just leaves hubby and the two dads… they could be tricky!!  I’ve been thinking of perhaps doing some kind of artwork of Catweazle for my dad, as not only is this his nickname, but he also used to be very keen on the tv series, so it’s looking like an option.  As for Gord’s dad, I’ve no idea at the moment.  I’ve got a few ideas lined up for hubby’s Christmas at the moment, but obviously can’t tell you about them at the moment as I’m not sure how often he reads this blog, so better safe than sorry!!

Tonight I’m busy labelling and packaging all of the cards that I’ve made over the last few days so that they’re ready to go to the craft fairs – I tend to leave this part until I’ve loads to do and it really is the worst part of cardmaking, I should learn but I never seem to!!

Also got a couple of orders to be getting on with in the morning, so all going well tomorrow will be another productive day… watch this space!!  If I remember to update this blog then I’ll be back soon lol. :-)
